West Brom 2-3 Birmingham

West Brom have started the season better than Birmingham, but Birmingham have enough good players not to be struggling for too long. West Brom are rightly favourites here given home advantage and their better form, but it promises to be a very competitive game. It is tempting to take Under 2.5 goals, but with the odds on this outcome fairly low, it looks a game to swerve from a betting point of view.

Aston Villa 1-0 Blackburn

Blackburn played well in midweek against Tottenham, but again managed to get a player sent off. Aston Villa also went down to 10 men in midweek at Portsmouth, but did well to get a draw. They're usually pretty strong at home, but Blackburn are not an easy team to beat these days. That is as long as they improve from their opening away game at West Ham, when they ended up well beaten. Aston Villa could have Baros making his first appearance here, which should give them a boost, but the odds on them winning are just too low to take. Blackburn look like being without the injured Bellamy again, which leaves them short on good strikers, so no bets here.

Fulham 1-0 Everton

Everton have had a mixed week, winning at Bolton when they didn't really deserve too, before being eliminated from the Champions League after a good performance and a harshly disallowed goal. As a result, it is hard to predict which Everton will turn up here. Fulham are pretty decent at home usually, and were a little unfortunate to lose by as many as 4-1 to Arsenal in midweek. Defensive errors cost them in that game, and will need to be cut out if they are to win here. After seeing Everton's performance at Bolton and given the way they lost in the Champions League, Fulham should have the edge here. Taking them on the Asian is the way to go.

Bet:   Fulham +0 (Asian Handicap)

Stake:   8/10

Odds:   1.85 (Premierbet)

Manchester City 2-1 Portsmouth

Despite playing against 10 men for much of the game, Portsmouth didn't do enough to beat Aston Villa in midweek. Following their opening games, it looks like Portsmouth are set to struggle this season. The British players do not seem comfortable under their French manager, while the new signings have not made much of an impact so far. All this points to Manchester City winning here. They have played OK this season, and are a hard team to play against these days.

Bet:   Manchester City

Stake:   7/10

Odds:   1.67 (Paddy Power)

Tottenham 0-2 Chelsea

Tottenham have not beaten Chelsea for 30 league games, going back to 1990. Such statistics are not crucial, given that a similar one was over-turned by Chelsea against Arsenal last week, but Tottenham do not seem capable of beating Chelsea at the moment. Tottenham have been better this season than previous seasons at times, but still are a long way off being a top team. Chelsea have been fairly average this season, but have still managed to win all of their games. Chelsea may not win here, but it is hard to see them losing. Given their performance against Wigan, it is still a little hard to back them at the available odds. No bets here.

West Ham 1-2 Bolton

West Ham have started the season a lot better than a lot of people thought that they would. That is not to say that they'll win this game, but they can certainly approach it with confidence. Bolton did well against Newcastle in midweek, but just give the impression of being a little below their best. They could well win here as West Ham could well be vulnerable at home, but this game looks to be priced up correctly.

Wigan 1-0 Sunderland

Even at this early stage of the season, these clubs look like they have a lot to do to avoid relegation. Sunderland have been pretty poor in losing all 3 games so far, but they only lost 1-0 at Liverpool with 10 men and played quite well at home to Manchester City in midweek. As a result, it is unwise to write them off for this particular game. This is especially true as Wigan have Camara injured, so only really have one striker, Roberts, available for the game. Wigan earned a lot of praise for their performance against Chelsea, but then lost quite poorly at Charlton. Sunderland have more chance of winning here than the odds indicate, and are worth taking on the handicap, along with a small bet on them to win.

Bet:   Sunderland

Stake:   3/10

Odds:   3.75 (Expekt)

Bet:   Sunderland +0.25 (Asian Handicap)

Stake:   7/10

Odds:   2.03 (Pinnacle)

Middlesbrough 0-3 Charlton

Middlesbrough looked a little below-par against Tottenham and Liverpool, before winning easily at Birmingham. Charlton have been quite impressive this season, winning both games so far. After the Birmingham win, people will probably be rushing to back Middlesbrough here, but Charlton are a stubborn team who will not roll over here. Middlesbrough could have the edge, but no bets on this one.

Newcastle 0-2 Manchester United

After Newcastle's poor start to the season, everyone will expect Manchester United to win here. Newcastle could have Dyer, Emre and Luque to come into their team though, which could well give them a big boost. Manchester United have done all they could so far this season, winning every game, but this will be their toughest test so far. If you look at the 11 players that Newcastle could, and probably will, put on the field, I would not back Manchester United to win at low odds. The value here is on the home win, which is worth a small bet.
