West Brom 1-2 Aston Villa

West Brom are putting in a few decent performances at home, doing very well to beat Tottenham quite easily in the end for example. Aston Villa have had a decent couple of weeks, but I wouldn't be looking to back them here as their odds are pretty short all things considered. I'd certainly give West Brom the edge here, but then the odds also reflect this. It's a tough one to call overall, so no bets.

West Ham 1-3 Chelsea

Chelsea have to be strongly favoured to win here, but their recent performances have been a bit unconvincing, and they will slip up sooner or later. West Ham had a reputation last season of losing at home whenever they played a decent team. This has continued to a degree this season, although they did manage to hold Arsenal to a draw. Arsenal are the only team above West Ham in the league to fail to win at Upton Park this season so far though. Chelsea are probably about worth taking a bet on.

Birmingham 2-0 Wigan

On form and league position, Wigan look a very good bet indeed. Birmingham may well just be starting to turn the corner though, after improved performances against Manchester United and Chelsea. Drawing with Manchester United at home may give Birmingham confidence that they can get results at home. However they do have a few injuries coming into this game, which probably makes betting on them unwise. From Wigan's point of view, they will be looking to build on their good form. They have done well against the poorer teams in the league and will fancy their chances here, but I would want slightly higher odds before betting on them, with any result looking possible.

Bolton 2-2 Liverpool

Liverpool have won 10 league games in a row. Most of these games have been against struggling opposition. Bolton have suffered one home defeat this season and have conceded only 2 goals in 8 home games. Liverpool last season struggled away from home against teams who got at that and tackled hard, which is just what Bolton do. For me, the odds on Liverpool to win this game are far too short. Bolton have been a little below par recently, so Liverpool probably deserve to be favourites, but probably only marginally so. It is worth supporting Bolton here.

Everton 3-1 Charlton

Both teams here have been really struggling of late. Don't be fooled by Everton's 1-0 win at Sunderland, they were very lucky not to lose. Against any other team in the league, Everton would've lost heavily. Charlton stopped the rot for them by beating West Ham, but all is not well with them at the moment. It is hard to make a case for either team to win this game. Everton are favourites due to being at home and still have memories of doing well last season. Any result is possible, although Everton have to be slightly favoured. It just looks a game where it is very hard to be confident about any sort of bet, so is best left alone.

Fulham 2-1 Sunderland

Fulham should win this game, as Sunderland tend to lose against most teams in the Premier League. They did play well against Everton, but then gifted Everton a goal at the end of the game and lost. Sunderland just do not have enough good players to win regularly in this league. Fulham concern me a little because they look a little vulnerable defensively. They do usually manage to score a couple of goals in their home games, but even scored three against Aston Villa and still did not win. Over 2.5 goals is a good bet at the available odds, and Fulham to win is at good enough odds to take also.

Bet:   Fulham

Stake:   8/10

Odds:   1.62 (Paddy Power)

Bet:   Over 2.5 goals

Stake:   10/10

Newcastle 2-2 Middlesbrough

Both teams here have injury problems, with Owen and probably Given as well missing for Newcastle, while Middlesbrough have Boateng out and possibly Yakubu too. Both teams have also been struggling a little to get results in recent games, so will probably be lacking a bit of confidence coming into this. A win would be very important to either team, but it is hard to predict who, if anyone, will get it. Middlesbrough are normally decent away from home, but have a pretty poor away record this season. Newcastle have only suffered one home defeat this season, but are now without their main goal threat. Newcastle should edge this, but without Owen, it's one to steer clear of from a betting point of view.

Blackburn 2-1 Portsmouth

Since Redknapp returned to Portsmouth, they have been pretty good at home, but will need to pick up some points away from home to move away from the bottom of the league. They have conceded 7 goals in 2 away games under Redknapp (against Arsenal and Tottenham), so will need to play better. Blackburn are doing quite well this season, almost unnoticed. Their last few games have been good and they will go into this game feeling confident I am sure. Blackburn also managed to beat Portsmouth home and away last season. I'm a little reluctant to back Blackburn at short odds though, so this is a game best left alone I think, except for a small bet on Blackburn on the Asians.

Bet:   Blackburn -0.75 (Asian Handicap)

Stake:   3/10

Odds:   1.90 (Canbet)
