Analysis Premier League: By Richard Borrowdale 2003/2004: Staked = 1180, Returned = 1150.43, Yield = -2.51%
2004/2005: Staked = 650, Returned = 636.785, Yield = -2.03%
2005/2006: Staked = 163, Returned = 141.88, Yield = -12.96% Blackburn 2-0 West Brom After their impressive win at Manchester United last week, Blackburn will have their supporters this week, but their home record is such that they look a little under-priced. West Brom have been very poor the past few games, and don't look like winning games at the moment. Hard to find a decent bet on this game.
Charlton 2-3 Tottenham Given Charlton's start to the season, their odds do seem high for this game. Tottenham have been all over the place in certain games recently, although did improve in their victory over Fulham. Charlton just have to be taken on the level ball Asian here though given their form and confidence. Tottenham have a lot of new players this season, and just don't look to have a settled team at the moment. Certain players have not adjusted yet, so they could struggle here. Bet: Charlton +0 (Asian Handicap) Stake: 8/10 Odds: 1.83 (Pinnacle Sports)
Fulham 2-3 Manchester United Manchester United are certainly vulnerable without Keane, Neville and Heinze, as was proved by Blackburn last week. Certainly it is very difficult to consider betting on them at fairly short odds in a game such as this. Fulham may not win, but their is value in their odds. With Manchester United looking a bit weak defensively, their could be some goals here, so it is worth taking a bet on that, and on Fulham. Bet: Fulham Stake: 3/10 Odds: 5.50 (Ladbrokes)
Bet: Fulham +0.75 (Asian Handicap) Stake: 6/10 Odds: 1.98 (Victor Chandler)
Bet: Over 2.5 goals Stake: 7/10 Odds: 2.10 (Premierbet)
Portsmouth 0-0 Newcastle Newcastle have been on much the better form in recent games, but still are missing a few players injured. Portsmouth haven't had great results, but have played OK at times in games. Newcastle just have not convinced in away games this season, and in the previous two season to justify a bet on them at fairly short odds all things considered. Portsmouth look to be lacking confidence, so it looks like a game to avoid really.
Sunderland 1-1 West Ham Both teams here had impressive results last week, West Ham drawing with Arsenal and Sunderland winning at Middlesbrough. Last season, in the Championship, Sunderland were much the better of these two teams, but things seemed to have changed around in the early weeks of this season. West Ham look to be playing with confidence, but look a bit under-priced considering Sunderland have home advantage. Sunderland were a bit unlucky not to beat West Brom also, so are showing some signs of improvement recently. Sunderland still aren't a team who you can confidently expect to win though, so no bets here.
Sunday October 2nd (5 matches) To summarise, all of the games look correctly priced pretty much. Most will probably be low scoring, and instead of wasting time writing about each one, it is better to say that no bets stand out.
