Analysis Premier League: By Richard Borrowdale 2003/2004: Staked = 1180, Returned = 1150.43, Yield = -2.51%
2004/2005: Staked = 650, Returned = 636.785, Yield = -2.03%
2005/2006: Staked = 514, Returned = 510.47, Yield = -0.69% Aston Villa 1-1 Chelsea Surprisingly, it is several years since Chelsea have won at Aston Villa, and a few indifferent performances lately, make it hard to take them to win here at fairly short odds. Villa don't lose too many at home, and appear to have all of their strikers now fit. Chelsea should win, but I wouldn't be rushing to back them at the available odds.
Manchester City 3-0 Newcastle Newcastle are starting to get a few of their injured players back, but crucially are still without Owen, so will continue to struggle to score. Manchester City have been playing OK without excelling, so it promises to be a fairly close game. Newcastle's away record is poor, so that means some fairly high odds are available on them. It is hard to say they'll win though, but it's also hard to take a bet on Manchester City at fairly low odds. A game best left alone.
Portsmouth 1-1 Bolton Bolton have several players injured and away on international duty, so I certainly wouldn't make them favourites here. They struggled against Arsenal at the weekend, but managed to score with pretty much the only clear chnce of the game for either team. With so many new players, anything is possible with Portsmouth. I think they're worth taking on the level ball Asian here, and there is also value in taking a high-scoring game. Bet: Portsmouth +0 (Asian Handicap) Stake: 10/10 Odds: 1.96 (Pinnacle Sports)
Bet: Over 2.5 goals Stake: 7/10 Odds: 2.32 (Centrebet)
Arsenal 2-3 West Ham Arsenal will be without many of their defenders here, with Lauren, Toure, Eboue, Clichy and Cole all missing. This means it is hard to take Arsenal to win at fairly low odds, even though they should be good enough to win. West Ham continue to do well so they aren't without a chance here. It is hard to see any worthwhile bets, as Arsenal could just as easily win by 3 or 4 as fail to win.
Blackburn 4-3 Manchester United Manchester United overcame Blackburn in the Carling Cup semi finals recently, but only after two very tough games. They may well win here, but with several players missing in midfield, their odds are a little short. Blackburn look like having Bellamy and Dickov missing here, which means their attacking options are a little limited. As a result, opposing Manchester United isn't as attractive as it might be if Blackburn were at full strength. No bets.
Liverpool 1-1 Birmingham Liverpool will be a very popular bet tonight, but Birmingham are showing small signs of improvement and certainly shouldn't be pushovers here. They have a few players coming back to fitness and a couple of new signings to help them. Birmingham did well against Liverpool last season, and while Liverpool should win here, I wouldn't pile into betting on them. No bets.
